Steckley-Gooderham is Simcoe County's largest funeral home.
We are proud to be independently owned and operated since 1923.

1923 First funeral conducted by Oscar Reid. Funeral Home at its original location, 47 Elizabeth Street (now Dunlop Street West ).
 
1932 P.C. Lloyd an employee of G.G. Smith Funeral Home purchases the business at 47 Elizabeth Street .
 
1933 Walter Steckley of Richmond Hill receives his funeral director's license.
 
1938 Walter Steckley and family relocated to Barrie and assume ownership of the P.C. Lloyd business under the name of Lloyd & Steckley Funeral Home.
 
1940 Minnikin Funeral Home, located at 26 Mary Street ceases operation and inventory is purchased by W.A. Steckley.
 
1943 W.A. Steckley purchases former residence of Mr. Charles Robinson (Robinson Hardware) at corner of Clapperton & Worsley Street.
 
1944 Business relocates to present location at 30 Worsley Street .
 
1946 Ronald G. Stewart retired from air force and joins firm.
 

1958

Lloyd & Steckley Funeral Home is incorporated and the name is changed to Steckley Funeral Home.
 
1960 Howard J. Steckley joins the firm and receives his funeral director's license in 1962.
 
1963-4 Extensive construction and renovation to Worsley Street Chapel included lounge, chapel, foyer and offices.
 
1966 W.A. (Bud) Gooderham receives his funeral director's license.
 
1981 Ownership of business transferred to Bud & Linda Gooderham.
 
1983 Name changed to Steckley-Gooderham Inc. to reflect new ownership.
 
1988 Land purchased at Hwy. #11 & Minet's Point Road for second location.
 
1990 Minet's Point Chapel dedicated and opened to public June 8.
 
1993 Additional properties, purchased at Clapperton & Worsley Street Chapel for future expansion.
 
1995 Construction of new Worsley Street Chapel commences August 1.
 
1996 Worsley Street Chapel dedicated and opened to public June 14.
 
1998 Kimberley Anne Gooderham receives her funeral director's license.
