OZIEWICZ, Stanislawa Franciszka
“Stella”, as she was known in Canada, died peacefully on April 22, 2024 -- only days after her 96th birthday at Victoria Village Manor in Barrie, ON.
She was born on April 14, 1928, in the village of Niwiska in, what was then, Southeast Poland, and after an incredible odyssey during the tumult of the Second World ended up in Canada after making her way through four continents.
She joins her beloved husband, Mieczyslaw (Mark) Oziewicz (July 30, 2007) of 57 years.
Stella was a devoted and caring mother of Richard (Brenda), Stanley (Gianna), Teresa (Pablo), Andrew (Alina) and Eva (Scott), adoring grandmother of Jessica (Stuart) and Ryan (Nicole), Anneliese (Lee), Christian (Stephanie), Miranda (Kluge), Madison (Alan), Ariel (Matthew), and Kaila (James) and great-grandmother of Levi and Liam.
She leaves her youngest sister, Bronia Kuzniar, of Laxton Hall, Northamptonshire, England.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 12 PM until the time of service at 2 PM, with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barrie. Following the interment, guests are invited back to the funeral home for a reception gathering in the Lounge.
