Frederick Allan Sarjeant

April 8, 1931 – November 22, 2025

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick (Allan) Sarjeant, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Allan was the cherished husband of Dorothy, and the loving father of Greg (Leslie), Debbie (Hannes) Sauerteig, and John (Krista) Sarjeant. He was a proud grandfather to Ian, Bryn, Eric, Katrina, Mitchell, Reagan, Angela, Tim, and Jon, and a great-grandfather to eleven adoring great-grandchildren.

He was fondly embraced by Dorothy’s family—David (Sue) Elphick, Kerri (Phillip) Molinaro, and Katherine (Brad) Elphick—and was a cherished grandfather to Holly, Rosie, Matthew, and Jamie.

Allan lived a rich and vibrant life shaped by his many passions. An avid outdoorsman, he loved sailing, skiing, boating, cottaging, and hiking. As one of the “CGE guys” who founded the original Barrie Yacht Club, he helped cultivate a community that shared his enthusiasm for the water. He served as Fleet Captain and, later, as Commodore of the Kempenfelt Bay Sailing Association (Shanty Bay), and was an active member of the Hawkestone Yacht Club.  Born and raised in Barrie, Allan carried a deep connection to the area throughout his life.

His passion for the community was shared with Dorothy as they volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program for several years.  Allan also served on the founding committee for the Gryphon Theatre Foundation and, later, on the Board of Directors.  Likewise, he served on the Board of Directors and as President at the Pine Ridge Ski Club.

Before retiring, Allan successfully ran his own business, ICC, which he later sold. His work ethic, integrity, and leadership were hallmarks of his professional life, just as kindness, warmth, and curiosity defined his personal one.

Allan will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly and in the many adventures, stories, and memories he shared with them.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and will be announced via his online tributes page.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice Simcoe, or the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
