Hargreaves, Alvina Carolina (nee Welter)
Passed peacefully in her 88th year on Thursday, November 18th, 2021 at the RVH, Barrie. Beloved wife of the late Marvin Norman. Loving mother of Thomas Charles (Betty), Yvonne, Sandra Rutherford (Darryl), Janine Waters (Brad). Proud grandmother of 8, great-grandmother of 5. Predeceased by 8 siblings. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alvina was a 55-year member of the Catholic Women’s League and Life Member of the A.N.A.F. Ladies auxiliary, serving as Sports Officer for over 30 years. In addition to this, Alvina also served her community as a long-time volunteer with the Barrie Colts and with the Barrie Red Cross, receiving a special certificate for 25 years of active involvement.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Sunday, November 21st, 2021 from 1 – 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Parish, 65 Amelia St., Barrie on Tuesday, November 23rd at 10 a.m. and online via the Parish website. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s cemetery. Masks, physical distancing, and capacity limitations are mandatory.
