It is with much sadness that we mourn the passing of our mother Anna Freundorfer at the age of 94 on the morning of Wednesday, February 18, 2026. After chronic illness, she died peacefully during a short stay at Royal Victoria Regional Health Center in Barrie Ontario. She was happily married to Alois, known as Lou (predeceased in 2015) for 59 years. They were blessed with five children: John, Al (Irene Jerina), Bregitte (Mark Rugman), Rick (predeceased in 1997)(Lisa Martin), and MaryAnn (Joe Curtis). Mom was very proud of 32 grandchildren of which 3 are predeceased, and 8 great-grandchildren. She was born in Austria where she met her future husband. After WWII, she moved to Toronto, got married at St. Patrick’s and began her family. While living in Toronto she worked part-time at the Providence Villa. Later moving to Barrie and eventually acquiring a hobby farm in Oro-Medonte where Mom raised goats, chickens, ducks, sheep and beef cattle when she was not working her extensive vegetable gardens. She loved husbandry, herbs, flowers, reading and cooking. Mom was ahead of her times in raising organic meat and produce, using natural remedies and natural nutrition. Kind and generous, Anna dedicated her life to her faith and her family, always ready to visit the sick and elderly, lend a hand and pray for those she cared about. She was heavily involved in the prolife movement. Mom will be very much missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
