Arlene Glennis Arnell

1933-2022

Arlene Glennis Arnell was born in Roland, Manitoba to parents Glen and Margaret Ball.  Arlene (Ball) was the eldest daughter in a family of 9.  She is predeceased by brothers Don and Perry; loved by Barbara, Retha, Robert, Ruth, Danny and Sharon.

Arlene is predeceased by husbands, Edgar J Long and Theodore Arnell.  Mother to Patricia (Bob d.) Diane (John), Faye (Stewart), Bradley and Tony (Brenda).  Grandmother to Nathan, Andrea, Michaela, Rebecca, Shannon, Angela, Hillary, Ashley, Braden, Christopher, Jessica, Taylor and Emily and 24 great-grandchildren.

Mom was a woman of faith, actively involved in her local church as she was able notably Central, Grace and Collier St United.  Mom was able to play the piano beautifully by ear and her home was always warmest with a piano in it.  She was in her glory playing hymns to the congregation at church and most recently to the clients at Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf.

Education was important to Mom and while she was in her 40s, graduated from University of Laurier with a degree in Political Science.  She proudly displayed her diploma as a reminder of her accomplishment and shelves full of books were always prominent in her home.  Her favourite books travelled with her several times across Canada.

The walls of her home were lined with her paintings featuring multiple pictures of her beloved Rocky Mountains in oil and nature scenes in watercolour.  Mom painted until the last few years and her brushes were on her dresser – at the ready along with future project ideas– until the end.

Mom was a court reporter taking pride in her accuracy with shorthand.  Her skill took her from Barrie to Ottawa and then to the west coat working in Provincial Court.  She loved her profession and the excitement of the courts.  I can still hear the typewriter clicking away through the night as Mom completed her transcripts making multiple carbon copies with accuracy.   She worked prior to the years of computer and auto correct!

Life was interesting with Mom and although her health has limited her for several years, she was always full of ideas and dreams.  Her wish to be joined with her beloved parents and family members in Heaven has been granted and she is at peace.

The family would like to take this opportunity to extend their most sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Bob Rumball Home for the Deaf for their genuine and compassionate care of Arlene.

Private family arrangements have taken place. If desired, donations in Arlene's memory may be made to Operation Smile and are greatly appreciated by the family.

Condolences
