In Loving Memory of Barb Elrick
Barb Elrick of Barrie, Ontario passed away on January 1, 2026, leaving a space in the hearts of her family that can never be filled.
Barb grew up on Park Street in Barrie, a place she always considered home. She was married to her beloved husband Robert (Bob) Elrick, who passed away in 1986. Together, Barb and Bob raised their family while traveling across Canada and Europe through Bob’s military career. No matter where they lived, Barb made every place feel like home. Eventually, she returned to Barrie, where her roots, memories, and family were.
Barb was simply the kindest person anyone could meet. She had a gentle way about her, a warm smile, and a heart that was always open. She listened without judgment, cared without condition, and gave without expecting anything in return. Everyone who met her agreed—Barb was truly one of a kind.
She was a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother who put her family above everything else. Barb is survived by her younger sister, Patsy Bateman; her children Rob (Shelley), Kimberly, and Mitchell (Yvonne); and her grandchildren Casey (Cory Rice), Robbie (Stacy Sutherland) Dana, Kalei Reid, Sara Reid, and Noah. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she took immense joy in each of them. She is already deeply missed, especially by them.
Barb’s love was quiet but powerful, steady and unconditional. Her presence made people feel safe, welcome, and loved. Though she is no longer with us, her kindness lives on in every life she touched.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Sunday, January 4, 2026 from 1 PM until the time of service at 3 PM. Guests are invited to remain for a reception gathering in the lounge.
You will not be forgotten, Barb. You will always be loved.
