In Loving Memory of Brahim Sadik Boga (Bill Bogic)
October 10, 1933 – August 5, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brahim Boga, known to many as Bill Bogic, who died peacefully in Barrie, Ontario on August 5, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born in Montenegro on October 10, 1933, Brahim was a proud ethnic-Albanian who carved a remarkable life from humble beginnings. In 1961, he immigrated to Canada with his brother Lano—armed with only a grade 8 education, $8 in his pocket, and not a word of English or French. The first thing he bought was a carton of milk, and from that moment on, he poured everything he had into building a better life.
Starting as a general labourer, then busboy, waiter, and eventually Maître D' at prestigious establishments like Toronto’s King Edward Hotel, Brahim’s natural charisma, work ethic, and perseverance shone through. He later earned his real estate license and became a multi-award-winning agent, providing a comfortable life for his family.
Brahim is survived by his loving wife, Rebeka; his daughter Hana (Carl), and grandchildren Liliana, Klara Eden, and Ella; and his son Dany. He was predeceased by his brothers Lano, Rexhep, and Binak, and his parents, Dika and Ruke.
Because he was denied access to higher education himself, Brahim championed its value all his life. His love of Albanian music, culture, and cuisine never wavered. A consummate host, he believed that “when the house is full of people, it sings.” His deep sense of hospitality and care for the stranger was not only a personal value but a continued legacy from his family, who were known for feeding and helping others in countless ways. Brahim proudly carried that tradition into every stage of his life, often opening his home and his heart to those in need, even strangers. He helped many newcomers to Canada find their footing, offering support, encouragement, and often a place to stay.
Brahim's legacy lives on through his family—rooted in love, determination, cultural pride, and an unwavering belief in the power of education and hard work.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 9:30 AM until the time of service in the Chapel at 11 AM. Guests are invited to remain for a reception gathering in the Lounge, prior to the 2 PM interment at Innisvale Cemetery, Innisfil.
As Brahim loved nothing more than feeding others and ensuring no one went without, donations to the Barrie Food Bank are kindly requested in lieu of flowers.
May his memory be a blessing.
