Bridget “Bridie” McCormack (nee Doran)

Passed away peacefully at home in Barrie with her family by her side on September 10th, 2021 in her 98th year.

Predeceased by Hugh, her loving husband of 68 years, and her son Jim.  Much loved mother of Brian (Claudette), Deirdre (Brian Cullingford), Mary, and daughter-in-law Brid.  Cherished grandmother of Hugh, Lisa, Bridget, and great grandmother of Connor.  She will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and cousins both here and abroad.

Bridie had many fond memories of Ireland – her birthplace and  childhood home at “Drumsesk”, the farm which instilled in her the love of all animals and nature,  the village of Rostrevor, where she met and married Hugh, and Warrenpoint, their home prior to the family emigrating to Canada in 1964.

She had a steadfast faith, always considerate of everyone else’s needs ahead of her own.  Bridie possessed a gentle strength and will always be remembered with love and admiration, cherished for her sweet smile.

A heartfelt thank-you to Liezl for being such a devoted, kind and compassionate part of the family.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Bridie’s niece Roisin, whose calls and thoughtfulness always brightened Mom’s day, her many caregivers and, especially, Dr. Mike McConvey for many, many years of exceptional care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Vianney Parish, 13 Baldwin Lane, Barrie on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021 at 11:30 a.m., followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barrie.  Livestream of the service will be available via the Parish website: https://stjohnvianneyba.archtoronto.org/  Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions and safety considerations, there will not be a reception.  In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent de Paul – St. John Vianney Parish would be greatly appreciated by the family.
