McNEIL, Donald Cletus

Passed away peacefully at the age of 90 with his three children by his side on July 22nd, 2022 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Mary Jane (nee Kendall).  Honoured father of Stephen, Blaine, and Debbie.  Cherished grandfather of 6 fabulous grandchildren; Mason, Victoria , Brittany, Cameron, Patrick, and Jacob.  Survived his brother Danny McNeil and sister Mary Mullins.  Don joins his brothers Arthur and Frank, and sister Dorothy.  

Born in Scotchtown, Cape Breton, NS, Don was a decorated Veteran that served in the Korean War and was stationed to various bases within his career.  Most notably of which, he completed a tour with NATO forces stationed in Fontainebeau, France where he met Charles De Gaulle (President of France) 1965.  Don had also met the Queen Mum via the Union Jack Club in London, 1978, and was a member of Legion Branch #147 Barrie.  Don was well-known by his friends and family for his outgoing personality and joy of life.  

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022 from 6 - 8 P.M., with service to follow in the Chapel Wednesday, August 3rd at 11 A.M. and via Livestream.  After which, guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon in the Lounge.  As a courtesy to Mary, the family has requested that guests wear masks during the celebration of life.
