On Thursday, April 8th, 2026 at the age of 97 years, Betty Miles, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in Barrie Ontario. Betty left us peacefully surrounded by the love of her sons and grandson at Hospice Simcoe. Betty is now reunited with her devoted late husband David and her late daughter Angela.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Ethyl Whale, brothers John and Neville “Bill” and sisters Eira and Marjorie. Her surviving sisters in Dublin, namely Anne, Pamela and Angela kept in touch with her and regularly called her while she was in Hospice Simcoe.
Betty’s passing is a deep and painful loss for her sons Christopher, Gordon and daughter in law Patricia, grandchildren Christine, Jean-françois (John), Markus, Sarah, and great grandson Ryan. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and their spouses that make up her extended family in Vancouver, Eire, Australia and the UK.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, May 29th, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, ON. Friends and family are welcome to arrive around 10:30 am. The inurnment will take place at the Barrie Union Cemetery following the service.
