On Thursday, April 8th, 2026 at the age of 97 years, Betty Miles, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in Barrie Ontario. Betty left us peacefully surrounded by the love of her sons and grandson at Hospice Simcoe. Betty is now reunited with her devoted late husband David and her late daughter Angela.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Ethyl Whale, brothers John and Neville “Bill” and sisters Eira and Marjorie. Her surviving sisters in Dublin, namely Anne, Pamela and Angela kept in touch with her and regularly called her while she was in Hospice Simcoe.
Betty’s passing is a deep and painful loss for her sons Christopher, Gordon and daughter in law Patricia, grandchildren Christine, Jean-françois (John), Markus, Sarah, and great grandson Ryan. She will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and their spouses that make up her extended family in Vancouver, Eire, Australia and the UK.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, May 29th, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, ON. Friends and family are welcome to arrive around 10:30 am. The inurnment will take place at the Barrie Union Cemetery following the service. Betty nous aquittés paisiblement, entourée de l'amour de ses fils et de son petit-fils, à l'Hospice Simcoe. Elle repose maintenant auprès de son mari bien-aimé, David, et sa fille, Angela, tous deux décédés.
Betty a été précédée dans la mort par ses parents, Gordon et Ethyl Whale, ses frères John et Neville « Bill », et ses sœurs Eira et Marjorie. Ses sœurs de Dublin, Anne, Pamela et Angela, sont restées en contact avec elle et l'ont appelée régulièrement pendant son séjour à l'Hospice Simcoe.
Le décès de Betty est une perte immense et douloureuse pour ses fils Christopher et Gordon, sa belle-fille Patricia, ses petits-enfants Christine, Jean-François « John », Markus et Sarah, ainsi que son arrière-petit-fils Ryan. Betty manquera également à ses nombreux neveux et nièces ainsi qu'à leurs conjoints, qui forment sa grande famille à Vancouver, en Irlande, en Australie et au Royaume-Uni.
Une cérémonie commémorative aura lieu le vendredi 29 mai 2026 à 11 h au salon funéraire Steckley-Gooderham, situé au 30, rue Worsely, à Barrie (Ontario). La famille et les amis sont invités à arriver vers 10 h 30. Ceux qui souhaitent honorer la mémoire de Betty peuvent envoyer des fleurs ou faire un don à la Fondation des maladies du cœur et de l'AVC.
