McCALLION, Dorothy

Dorothy passed away peacefully early Friday, March 17. Beloved wife of Murray. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Margaret. Loving sister to Peter (Carol Ann), Patty, (Art), Charlie (Debbie), Michael (Lori) and Joe (Gail). Sadley missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy has touched countless lives during a long teaching career in the Simcoe Muskoka Separate School Board. Dorothy was a wonderful, passionate and caring teacher who shared her formidable wisdom and insights with her students. Her knowledge was wide spread and came in particularly handy in trivia contests. She had a deep love of history and also of world travel which often took her to Scotland, the land of her birth.

Dorothy loved the stage and she took part in many productions from the Black Horse Theatre all the way to Kempenfelt Community players. She could and did dance, sing and act. A true Triple Threat.

Her vivacious smile, often wicked humour and her kindness will be missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 5 – 7 PM.  Funeral service will be held at St. Mary’s Parish, 65 Amelia St., Barrie on Thursday, March 23 at 10 AM, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Guests are invited to remain for a reception gathering in the Parish Hall.

A Livestream of the Funeral service will be made available here at the St. Mary's Parish Facebook page.

If desired, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Covenant House and are greatly appreciated by the family.
