Peacefully passed with family by her side on Monday, December 25th, 2023 at Grove Park Home at the age of 85 years. Beloved wife of the late Willi Hufnagel. Predeceased by her parents Sophie (née Gluckie) and John Primok (1944), and her beloved stepfather Fred Smusiak (2000). Predeceased by her “little brother” Joe Primok. Will be missed by her sister-in-law Dorothy Primok and by her brother Alan Smusiak (Carol). She will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews, Terry (Jesseca), Cheryl (Randy), Susanne (Richard), Jolene (Michael), Cindy (Lloyd) and the late Michael.

Some of the greatest joys in Auntie’s life was the addition of many great nieces and nephews who will forever remember her as their “Auntie!”

Due to a birth defect, Elaine taught herself from a young child how to be blind with the help of the CNIB. Almost 10 years ago, she fully lost her eyesight and that never stopped her. She was a fiercely independent women until her final days. She fully enjoyed her visits on the telephone with her many family and friends. She loved to listen to a good rerun of Reba. She would make the greatest news anchor, she always kept us up to date on what was happening in the world and with our family. Her loss of vision never stopped her from being the best that she could be. Our hearts are broken, we will forever miss our “Auntie”.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday, January 13th, 2023 from 10 am until the time we celebrate Elaine’s life in the Chapel at 11 am. Reception to follow in the Lower Lounge. In keeping with Elaine’s wishes cremation has taken place. An inurnment will follow the reception at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 208 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Grove Park Home or to CNIB and are greatly appreciated by the family.
