MOORE, Elizabeth “Anne”

Passed peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on July 26th, 2021 at the age of 82. Cherished wife and best friend of Alvin “Al” Moore. Loving, devoted mother and friend of Beverly Moore, Susan Moore, and mother-in-law to Lyn Boyce. Dear sister of Bill (Linda), the late Peter (late Eleanor), Ruth Douglas, Jean Bidwell (Don), Jim (Carol), Tom, and Laura. Much loved and adored aunt and great aunt. Will be sadly missed by many long-time friends in the Oro and Barrie area.

Born to Walton and Evelyn Johnston, Anne was the eldest daughter in a close-knit, loving family of eight siblings. She married Al, the love of her life, in July of 1959. For many years, they shared that life together in their home on the 3rd Line of Oro, where they remained very active in the community and made life-long friends. Eventually they relocated to their lakeside condo and continued to gather many more good friends into their circle.

Anne worked as a teacher at Rugby school throughout her early career. Following this, she worked at the former Adult Occupational Centre for many years as an Occupational Instructor, and continued to maintain contact with many of the clients for years later. Anne also volunteered for the Barrie association for persons with developmental disabilities, and in the area of palliative care at RVH.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Wednesday, August 4th, 2021 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. in the chapel and online via livestream. Masks, physical distancing, and capacity limitations are mandatory. Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will follow at the Edgar United Cemetery. If desired, donations in Anne’s memory may be made to Empower Simcoe.
