Emily Nyitray (nee Sywak) passed away peacefully at Grove Park home in Barrie during her 85th year of life. Emily was the beloved wife of Steve Nyitray, supporting each other during their 68 years of marriage. Emily leaves behind her two sons Steve and David along with her three grandchildren Chloe, Ciara, and Katie.

Emily was born in Simcoe, Ontario to parents Alex and Anna. She grew up alongside her siblings Lilian (Lily) and Steve. In her late teen years, she was fortunate enough to meet the love of her life, Steve, and the rest was history. Together they built a beautiful life that was tested time and time again, always finding new ways to lean on each other. Their early years were spent abroad raising two small boys overseas in Germany. Emily took great pleasure in being a good wife and a good mother. She always made sure that everyone around her was cared for with love, food, and adoration. Her baking never fell short of perfection from her lemon chiffon cakes to her beloved Christmas baking. Traditions were central to Steve and Emily’s retirement years, spending time together making pierogis, jams, and canned peaches. Throughout the years, Emily always made sure that she presented herself as a strong, independent, and well-dressed woman, leaving a lasting impression of grace to her granddaughters. She leaves behind a legacy of how to always treat others with kindness and generosity, embodying true beauty both inside and out. Emily will be missed dearly and remembered eternally.

Visitation for Emily will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Wednesday September 15th, 2021 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral arrangements have been made for Thursday September 16th at 11 am. Following the service, Emily will be laid to rest alongside her son, Michael at Holy Sepulchre cemetery, Burlington. A small celebration of life to be held in Hamilton, Ontario.

Masks, physical distancing, and capacity limitations are mandatory.
