Obituary – Mr. Ernest Joseph Allard    –    July 31, 1929 – November 6, 2021

With sad hearts the family of Ernest Allard would like to share that Ernie passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Serenity Retirement Residence in Barrie after a 9-month battle with ill health.

Ernie was born in July 1929 in Brantford, Ontario to his parents Ernest & Eva Allard, both predeceased. Also predeceased by his loving wife of over 60 years Ann, his siblings Reginald, Marian, Marie, Jeanette and Vivian, as well as his grandson Tyler Johnston and daughter-in-law Ann Allard. Ernie is survived by his brother Peter Allard and his 6 children; Peter Allard, Cathy Vollick (Mike), Carol Breadmore, Colleen Johnston, Patricia McLeod (Don) and Paul Allard (Lori). Surviving also are his 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

His devoted commitment and talents helped to raise both his children and his grandchildren. He cherished the time spent with each of them. His countless hours of sharing and teaching his carpentry skills and wisdom was never ending.

His loyalty and dedication to his life-long employment with Bell Canada extended to over 35 years. Ernie’s thoughtfulness and time was shared with other activities, such as Knights of Columbus, which included the title of Grand Knight. His beautiful tenor voice was sung and heard in many choirs such as The Harlequin Singers, Parkview Singers, King Edward Choir and The Sweet Adelines just to name a few, and many years with various church choirs. Many charities and support groups were recipients of Ernie’s caring generosity. His younger years demonstrated his passion for sports, with later years the enjoyment of travel with his wide circle of friends. His lifetime devotion to his faith is everlasting.

Special thanks to Dr. Valerie Rapson for her heartfelt & devoted professional care. Thanks also to Donna and her care team at Serenity Retirement Residence. A special thank you to his close friend Bernice, at Tollendale, for her loving friendship and continuous care.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Tuesday, November 9th, 2021 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. John Vianney Parish, 13 Baldwin Lane, Barrie on Wednesday, November 10th at 11 a.m. and online via the parish website: https://stjohnvianneyba.archtoronto.org/.  Interment will follow at St. Mary’s cemetery, Barrie.  Masks, physical distancing, and capacity limitations are mandatory.
