It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gabriel Joseph Jean Claude Bourget, Born April 19, 1933, and passing away on April 28, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born in Lauzon, Quebec, to Thuribe and Marie Therese Bourget (Predeceased). Gabriel was a loving husband to Augustina (predeceased), current loving partner to Hortense, a cherished stepfather to Sabina and a devoted brother to Pierre (Michel), Predeceased by Dennis (Annie), Jean-Louis (Jeanne D-Arc), Rita (Jimmy) and Rachel (Pierre). Gabriel was a devoted father to Darren, Brant, Rene and Shawn (predeceased). Loving uncle to many nieces and nephew. Grandfather to 4 grandchildren and great grandfather to 1.
Gabriel joined the Canadian Armed Services at the age of 17 and served in the Canadian Air Force for almost 30 years being an instructor, training recruits as machinists at numerous bases throughout Ontario. After retiring from the Air Force, Gabriel spent some time working in the field of automation and robotics for a small private company.
Gabriel spent his retirement years at his home in Newberry Florida enjoying the warmer climate. While there he enjoyed spending many hours in his garage repairing small motors or just sitting and relaxing in his yard.
Gabriel touched many lives over the years and was loved and admired by many. Always caring and ensuring others were taken care of. He had a great sense of humour and always liked to break out in songs from Maurice Chevalier. He truly was a great man sharing many stories and living life to its fullest.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 from 9:30 am until the time of service in the Chapel at 10:30 am. Interment will immediately follow at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, 208 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. Reception will take place inside the lower lounge of the Funeral Home following the interment.
