It is with heavy hearts that the family announces his passing on Wednesday March 4th, 2026, at the age of 66 years. Predeceased by his parents, David and Helen Powers. Cherished brother of Bruce (Janet). Caring uncle of Matt and Michelle (Junior). Dear great-uncle of Aliya.
Gary will be fondly remembered for his love of hockey. He was a devoted Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan, proudly cheering for them through every season. In his younger days he also enjoyed spending time on the water waterskiing. In quieter moments, Gary often could be found watching WWE or tuning into Breakfast Television, two of his favorite ways to start and end the day. There will be no visitation or service. A private family interment will take place in the spring. In Gary’s memory donations can be made to Canadian Mental Health Association.
