Gilbert Berton Vaughn, aged 85, passed away peacefully at home in Innisfil, Ontario, surrounded by loved ones on June 25, 2025, following a long-standing battle with Prostate Cancer.
Born on April 26, 1940, in Mill Village, Nova Scotia. He was the eldest son and is survived by his nine (9) siblings – Rose, Nancy, Sandra, Ruth, Barb, Donnie, John, Wayne, and predeceased by his brother, Mike.
Gilbert was predeceased by his late wife of a remarkable 42 years, Marlene Vaughn. He’s survived by his immediate family of, Shari and Rick McCaugherty, Bonnie Vaughn, along with grandchildren Beki, Gordon, Travis, Tyler, Tanya, and great-grandchildren Ryleigh and Madison. In addition, he leaves behind his beloved niece, Debbie Rankin and her family.
Furthermore, Gilbert is survived by his spouse of an amazing 17 years, Lily Bonell, along with their blended family of John and Nancy Bonell, Ully Jansen, Kelsey and Matthew Triolo, Danielle and Jon Colangelo and family, Mathew Bonell, Christopher Bonell, Kaitlynn and TJ Parker and family, and Jessica Jansen.
Gilbert’s survived by his extended family consisting of a cherished aunt, and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday, June 28th, 2025 from 10 am until the time of service in the chapel at 11 am. Guests are invited to remain for a reception following the service inside the lower lounge. Memorials or donations of any sort may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
