Peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 1st, 2026, at the age of 90 years. Beloved mother of Joanne, Angela, Frank, the late Carmen (Jo), and Marilyn (Patrick), whom she shared with Eugenio Genovese (2021). Cherished grandmother of Charlotte, Francesca, Katarina, Eric, Isabella, Myla, Giulia, and Wesley. Dear sister of the late Antonino (Rosetta), the late Giuseppe (the late Rosa), the late Providenza (the late Carmelo), Fortunata (Gregorio), the late Franco (the late Maria), and Maria (the late Mimo). Pina will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by many nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Pina was born in the town of Santa Lucia del Mela in Sicily, the middle of seven children. She came to Canada from Italy in 1960 and, within a week of her arrival, married her fiancé. Almost immediately, they settled in Barrie, where she would make her home for the rest of her life. Her dedication and hard work were evident at the Pizzeria Italia Restaurant, which opened in 1966 and where she continued working well into her seventies, until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Every Sunday, she brought the entire family together for lunch—aunts, uncles and cousins gathering around her table, where she lovingly fed everyone. She also gave generously of her time to St. Mary’s Church and was especially known for her contributions to the Christmas Bazaar and the Out of the Cold program. Through her work and service, she left a lasting mark on the community she called home.

The family would like to extend their deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Robert Bickle, along with the dedicated nursing staff and Personal Support Workers (PSWs) at St. Elizabeth Health Care, for the exceptional care, kindness and compassion shown to their beloved Mom.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, November 6th, 2026 from 2-4 pm. Funeral Mass will take place at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie on Saturday, November 7th, 2026 at 10 am. Interment will immediately follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 208 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. Following the interment, guests are invited to return to the Church Hall for a reception and time of fellowship with the family. Those who do not wish to attend the interment are welcome to proceed directly to the Church Hall following the Mass, where they may gather while awaiting the family's return.

A Livestream of the Funeral Mass will be made available on the St. Mary's Facebook page.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and are greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences and memories may be shared via www.steckleygooderham.com
