Jan was a free spirit at heart, shaped early by growing up by the ocean in Australia, a place that forever influenced her love of the beach, adventure, and connection. From those shores, she went on to travel much of the world, making friends wherever she went and maintaining those friendships across the years and continents.
Eventually, Jan made Canada her home, a country she embraced fully and proudly became a citizen of. It was there that she built a life defined by generosity, creativity, and warmth. Jan was innovative and imaginative, always finding joy in making, sharing, and bringing people together. Her generosity was boundless—she gave freely and never expected anything in return.
Jan had a love for music, clogging, women’s music festivals, and was a good sport that tolerated camping. She also enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen, including making her own red wine, a passion she delighted in sharing with others.
One of Jan’s greatest joys was being a grandmother. She cherished her time with her granddaughter Madison, especially their time playing Barbies together by the poolside—moments filled with laughter, imagination, and love.
Jan was predeceased by her parents, Robert Emmet Moore and Gwendoline Joyce Burrows, and her beloved daughter, Kelly Ford. She is survived by her wife, Linda Ford; her daughters, Karen Ford and Cathy Lebel; and her grandchildren, Madison Ford, and Kayla and Shawnee Ladouceur. She is also lovingly remembered by her relatives in Australia: Geoff and Rose Curtis; Bradley and Michelle Arnold; Melonie, Ashley, and Sophie Arnold; and Dorothy Wiese.
Jan will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her kindness, her creativity, and the many friendships she nurtured over a lifetime. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, across oceans and generations.
A memorial gathering will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 from 1-4 pm with words of remembrance taking place at 2 pm.
