Jonathan Alva Morris

Jonathan passed peacefully at Barrie Royal Victoria Hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer May 25, 2025.  He is survived by his sister Stephanie Smith (husband Michael), nieces and nephew, Jessica Cecutti (husband Whitney), Adam Woods (wife Nicole) and Allison Sheridan (husband Mike). He is also survived by great nieces and nephews Dylan, Olivia, Julia, Jack, Adam.  He will be remembered fondly as the “fun uncle”, teller of bad jokes. He is also survived by a brother Edwin.

Jonathan was predeceased by his parents Ted and Mary Morris and his sister Charlene Morris. Most importantly he was predeceased by his wife Carol, the love of his life.

Jonathan grew up always seeking adventure. Fishing and boating were favourites as a child. As a sports enthusiast he loved waterskiing barefoot and with a kite. He was passionate about his motorcycle, driving it across Canada and the United States coast to coast. He began motorcycle racing, achieving many awards. Jonathan was very proud of his work as an air conditioning and HVAC specialist. He loved problem solving and helping his customers, creating his own business. Jonathan loved the outdoors- hunting, fishing and more recently boating on Georgian Bay.

A special Thankyou to Jon’s friends Ivan McArthur and Mike Roddy and to Uncle Lorne. The help and companionship you provided throughout his illness especially allowed him to remain fiercely independent.

Jonathan and Carol sought adventures together. They truly were the best of friends, together now and forever.

We will miss you. Rest in peace.

A private family service has been entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie.
