Kenneth Tumber peacefully passed at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre with his wife Beatrice and children by his side, Monday, July 27th, 2026, at the age of 80. Dearly beloved husband of Beatrice (nee Moore) happily married for 59 years. Loving father of Bernadette (Ronald) Merk, Kent (Lucia) Tumber and Danielle (Jason) Hutt. Proud grandfather of Madison, Mallory, MacKenzie, Memphis, Myles, Owen, Ethan, Chloe and Jackson. Dear brother of Ronald (the late Carolyn) and will be missed by extended family members and dear friends.
Kenneth served as a Police Officer in the Toronto area before moving to Brampton where he continued with Peel Regional Police for 35 years; serving as a police officer from 1966 to 2001. Ken’s values and commitment to safeguarding the public embodied the core values of discipline, trust, teamwork, and courage. Ken received the Police Exemplary Service Medal April 1987 and First Bar March 1997. Ken received many awards in 1993, 1999 and 2001 for his support in the Peel Region community before retiring in Barrie with Bea. Ken has been an active member of the Wrinkle Warriors Baseball Team since 2006. He also enjoys Pickleball where he has made lasting friendships and has always enjoyed the sportsmanship. When Ken was not out in the community, he was often found enjoying his hobbies; gardening and woodworking being two of his favorite pastimes. Another one of Ken passions was supporting his wife Bea’s community involvement in the annual Lupus walk to help raise funds and awareness for Lupus support and research.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Monday, August 10th, 2026, from 2-5 pm. Funeral Service will take place at the St. George’s Anglican Church, 9 Granville St., Barrie on Tuesday, August 11th, 2026 at 1 pm. Guests are invited to remain for a light reception in the Church Hall following the service. In keeping with Ken’s wishes, cremation will take place. Memorial donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of Canada and are greatly appreciated by the family.
