Suddenly passed on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre at the age of 65 years. Beloved husband of Kim. Loving father of Jonathan Fleet (Sierra), Nolan Fleet (Laura), Sonya Fleet (Jason), and stepfather of Jason Hunter (Christina), Steven Hunter (Amy), and Laura Hunter. Proud grandfather of Decklen, Nolan, Alessia, Aria, Logan, Fynn and Jade. Devoted son of Janet and the late Bernard Fleet. Dear brother of Timothy Fleet and Jamie Fleet. Will be missed by extended family members and many dear friends.

Kevin was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick on May 3, 1958. He lived in New Brunswick and Newfoundland as a young child, before his family moved to Ontario for the latter part of his childhood. He joined the Canadian Air Force in 1978 and was based in Comox, BC, working as an Aero Engine Technician, building and repairing jet engines. In 1990, he transferred to Canadian Forces Base Borden, Ontario, to teach the Aero Engine Technician Course. He retired from the Air Force in 1998, and soon after, opened a ski shop in Barrie where he worked for 10 years. Never to be idle, Kevin owned and operated a handyman business for the last five years.

Kevin enjoyed many sports, including baseball and football, and played broomball at the National level. He was an avid skier and taught ski lessons for many years at local ski hills, and had previously been the Ski School Director of the Base Borden Alpine Ski Club. He loved boating, fishing, water skiing, spending time in the backyard and working on projects at home. Time spent with family and friends was important to him. His pride and joy was his 1970 GTO, “the Goat”, which has recently undergone a restoration and rebuild by his son, Nolan. Kevin had a big heart, always helping others out whenever needed. He had a warm smile and a contagious laugh, and loved to talk and share stories with others.  In recent months when asked how others could help in some way, Kevin would simply say, “Donate blood if you can, so that others may be helped”. A great man, a life well lived, and one who will be sadly missed by all.

Visitation will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Tuesday, December 19th, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow inside the Lower Lounge. A private interment will occur at the Grenfel Cemetery in the Spring. Donations in Kevin’s memory may be made to the Barrie Busby Centre, the Georgian Triangle Humane Society (Collingwood), or the Canadian Cancer Society and are greatly appreciated by the family.
