Larry Elliott, 68 years old, of Barrie, Ontario passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of September 14th, 2025.
Beloved soul-mate to Leslie Parsons.
Loving father to Chris Elliott, Jason Elliott and his wife Ginger.
Proud grandfather (poppa) to Francis Jean Elliott or as she prefers ‘Frankie’ and as Larry fondly referred to as “The Weapon”.
Loving brother to Meryl Drake, Maureen Marsh, Jackie Doyle and preleased by David Elliott. He will be sadly missed by his niece and nephews.
Larry was born on April 21st, 1957 (Easter Sunday) to Meryl Elliott-Lavis and Henry Elliott in Montreal, Quebec so as of today he would still have been Canadian (one of is favourite and lamest quips).
Larry and his parents moved to Ontario in 1970, first to Angus and then settling in Barrie. He attended Barrie North Secondary School, where he played on the rugby and football team.
After school, Larry worked as a surveyor, same as his father and brother. Following that he worked at the Barrie Legion, as a fire-alarm installer and as a sign-maker. Larry was an avid sports fan, especially hockey and when asked what his favorite team was like a true Montrealer he would say “anyone that was playing the Leafs”. Many a happy winter Saturday night was spent at the arena watching the Barrie Colts, in the summer it was out to the speedway(s) to be with his sons and cheer on #22. On his last day he took great enjoyment watching the Blue Jays clean up 11-2.
Larry was a devoted volunteer for many years at the Barrie Health Centre, Hope Acres-Treatment Facility and most significantly a friend of Bill W. for 30 years.
Larry and Leslie travelled extensively, having had many adventures and creating wonderful memories to look back on.
In his leisure time, aside from his service work, Larry took up glass etching, enjoying creating wonderful things and then even more enjoyment in giving his pieces away to his many friends.
The family request that if so moved, donations in honour of Larry’s life can be made to Hope Acres Addiction Treatment Centre (Salvation Army) Glencairn, ON L0M 1K0. For those that are able a donation of a pint to the Canadian Blood Services would be also be appreciated.
