Courageously, after a lengthy illness, the family is saddened to announce the passing of Lauren Montgomery, on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre at the age of 39 years. Beloved daughter of Brian and Maureen (née Mills) Montgomery. Proud niece of Eileen, Daniel (Birgit), Jackie, Judy (Brian), Darlene, Johnny, Ronnie (Edith), Bobby (Donna), Rickie (Nancy), Paul (Silvia), Patricia (Jeff), the late Gordie and David. Predeceased by her grandparents Adelaide and Gordon Mills and Madeline and James Montgomery. Will be missed by many cousins, extended family members and dear friends.

Lauren loved to bake for people, she enjoyed doing crosswords, reading, crafts and most of all loved shopping for shoes! She had a huge heart for animals, especially for her mini-dachshunds – Missy, Annabelle and Socks who have passed away, and left her with a broken heart, and Scarlett who today is still called her “miracle dog”.

She loved to share her knowledge of baking and English monarchs. She always wanted to visit Jamie Oliver’s restaurant and have a meal, one of her many items on her bucket list. Her chocolate chip cookies will be missed as well as her Banana Cake that she baked for her dad. Lauren had a huge heart for other people and would give her next $20 to anyone who needed it. She will be missed dearly by her mom who was her friend and her dad who will miss his “pumpkins” football talks on Sundays. She will live in our hearts forever and remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, May 19th, 2023 from 2 pm until the time of Service inside the Chapel at 3 pm. Reception to follow inside the lower lounge. In keeping with Lauren’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lauren’s memory may be made to the OVC Pet Trust which funds research for the benefit of companion animals and are greatly appreciated by the family.
