Peacefully passed at the Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland on Thursday, October 8th, 2026 at the age of 88. Dear sister of Shirley Goldsworthy (the late Cecil). Beloved aunt of Karen (Ron), Jim (Lisa) and Bill (Kelly). Proud great-aunt of Matthew, Benjamin, Joshua, Jessica (Mike), Cameron (Tiff), Lauren, Amy (Matt), Kaitlyn (Jordan), Jonathan (Megan). Cherished great-great-aunt of Jax, Charolette, Emily, Laura, Hannah, Rachel, Sarah, Levi, Jacob, Margot and Lennon. Will be missed by extended family members and dear friends.

Lois held a deep and lifelong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was always at the centre of her life. She loved singing and playing the wonderful hymns that spoke of God's love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness. Her faith was a source of great comfort and strength, and she cherished the promise of eternal life through her Lord and Saviour.

Lois was a loving, generous, and adventurous soul who cherished her family and found joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Some of our fondest memories of Lois were our visits to her in Norwood, where we would enjoy a skate on the pond followed by a delicious bowl of her homemade chili. She was also well known for her wonderful date squares, bean salad, icebox cookies, and jellied salad. Her kitchen was always a place of comfort, and her food was one of the many ways she showed her love for those around her.

Lois had a special place in her heart for children. She worked as a librarian at Norwood Public School and also generously gave her time helping out at Trinity Christian School in Barrie. A true lover of books, she delighted in reading to all her nieces and nephews, sharing with them the magic of a good story and her love of reading.

A very giving person, Lois was always willing to lend a hand and would gladly drop everything to join in an adventure. She loved camping, travelling, and making memories with family. Her trips to Pennsylvania to visit her niece and husband were very special to her.

Music was another of Lois’s great joys. She loved a good sing-along, especially to the old Gaither favourites. Having lived with her nephew and family for almost 20 years, she could often be heard playing and singing in her apartment, filling their home with music and song.

Lois also had a thoughtful and deeply personal way of showing her love. She carefully chose a special scripture verse for each family member and lovingly wrote it at the bottom of their birthday card. These meaningful words were a reflection of her faith and the care she took to make each person feel special.

And, of course, Lois dearly loved all of her dogs, who brought so much happiness and companionship into her life.

Lois’s generous heart, and her love of family will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who knew and loved her.  She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all those whose lives she touched.

In keeping with Lois’s wishes, a private interment will take place at the Barrie Union Cemetery, 338 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. Arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie. Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Christian School in Barrie or to the Teen Challenge Canada.
