Marjorie Catherine (Cerswell) McLeod
December 8, 1931 – May 24, 2025
With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Marjorie Catharine Cerswell McLeod, who left this world on Saturday, May 24, 2025 to be with her Lord. Marj spent her last days in the arms of her beloved husband, Ron McLeod.
Born on December 8, 1931, and raised in Barrie, Ontario, Marj grew up alongside her three brothers and attended school locally. She went on to build a remarkable 40-year career with Bell Telephone, where she served as a respected operator, supervisor and manager.
In 1951, Marj married the love of her life, Ron, beginning a marriage that spanned more than 70 years—filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering companionship. Together, they raised two sons, Randy and Dan, and Marj was endlessly proud of the family they created. Her heart found even more joy with the arrival of her grandchildren: Alicia, Emily, David, Pamela, Adam, and Kiersten, and her treasured great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Maxwell, Myla, Hudson, Silas, Oliver, Maeve, James, William and Justice.
Marj had a zest for life and a gift for connection. She loved golfing, playing cards, and traveling—especially on adventures shared with dear friends. Her sense of fun, curiosity, and loyalty made her the kind of friend everyone wanted to have.
In addition to her professional and family life, Marj dedicated herself to community service, volunteering for over 30 years at Royal Victoria Hospital, where she became a lifetime member of the Hospital Auxiliary.
A woman of faith, Marj drew strength and comfort from those closest to her. She wrote “I was blessed with a wonderful husband, children, and family, and many friends and church family.” . She and Ron were members at St Andrew’s’ Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.
A memorial service for Marj will be held at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home on Wednesday May 28, 2025 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marj’s memory may be made to the Royal Victoria Hospital Auxiliary or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Marj’s presence was a gift—steady, warm, and full of love. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
