Mary Nicholas passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026 at the age of 90. Loving mother of Harry, Kathy (Marv) and loving grandmother of Levi, Carla and Katherine. She leaves behind her brother James (Grace), Peter (Vasiliki) along with several nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with brother Nicolas and her parents Elia and Ekaterini.
Mary was born in Tripoli, Greece in 1936 and at the age of 17 she arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1954. She made her way to Toronto where her family was and started her new life. She was known as a wonderful baker and was a big part of the Greek Orthodox Church in helping with festivities and holy days for many years. We will miss her dearly. It gives us great comfort that she is at peace now.
Visitation will take place at the Holy Cross – St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, 572 Penetanguishene Rd., Barrie on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 12 pm until the time of service at 1 pm. Interment to take place at a later date at St. James Crown Hill.
