It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mildred Ethel Walker at the age of 91. We are grateful to have had such a wonderful person in our lives for so many years. She was strongly independent and adventurous in spirit, and her sense of humour will be fondly remembered. She had a long and active life, enjoyed camping, was devoted to family, and had a strong Christian faith. She had a creative streak and loved to sew, and everyone always looked forward to her baking.
She leaves behind her beloved husband Jim, her children Marsha (Roger) Potts, Yvonne (Micheal) Pilon, Vicky (Allan) Walker, Cheryl Porter, and Campbell (Christine) Walker. She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren Blaise, Lucien, Teresa, Derk (formerly known as Alyssa), Shayna, Caelan and Tristan. She also had numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings Hazel (Harry) Rowley, Don McLeod, Jean (Joe) Yager, Phyllis (Dean) Potts, Charlie McLeod, Marion (William "Bill") Gordon, Helen Wright and son-in-law David Porter. She is survived by brother-in-law Ron Wright, and sisters-in law Betty McLeod and Maureen McLeod.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, July 18 from 7-9 PM and on Saturday, July 19 from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM. A reception will follow in the lounge before the family proceeds to Stayner Union Cemetery for interment.
If desired, donations in Mildred's memory may be made to Hospice Simcoe, the Alzheimer Society, or St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and are greatly appreciated by the family.
