Mitchell (Mitch) Schaub
April 23, 1956 – November 2, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mitchell “Mitch” Schaub on November 2, 2025, at the age of 69. Mitch was a devoted husband, loving father, proud Grampy, and dear friend to many.
He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife Chris, and by his daughters Amanda (Jay), Erin (Stephen), and Becky (Nick). Mitch was a proud and joyful Grampy to Malia, Paisley, Poppy, Aria, and his first grandson on the way. His family was the heart of his life and his greatest source of pride and joy.
Mitch was predeceased by his parents, Dot and Lou Schaub. He is survived by his loving sisters Trudie, Wendy, and Holly, and by his nieces and nephews who brought him great joy and laughter over the years.
Mitch had a lifelong passion for golf and spent many happy days at his home club, Big Bay Point Golf and Country Club. Whether sharing a round with friends or perfecting his swing, the course was one of his favourite places to be. It reflected his love of camaraderie, patience, and the simple joys of life well lived.
He will be remembered for his warmth, humour, generosity, and unwavering kindness. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, a deep love for family gatherings, and a steady presence that brought comfort to those around him. His legacy lives on in the love he shared and the memories he created with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Mitch’s life was filled with laughter, love, and kindness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will take place on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, Worsley Street Chapel (30 Worsley Street, Barrie, Ontario). A service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with a reception from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
