Passed away with dignity and grace, peacefully with her family by her side at Amica in Barrie, ON, with her favourite Frank Sinatra playing in the background. She is predeceased by beloved husband Peter, father Walter, mother Emma and brother Stuart Sharpe. Myrna was the much-loved and cherished matriarch of her family. She is survived by her children David (Lisa), Douglas (Barb), Leslie (Tony) and Laura (Frank). Cherished and proud Nana to Jacob and Sarah, Jack and Charlie, and Brody and Carly.
Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Myrna eventually moved to Ontario with Peter, and selflessly devoted herself to her family and her nursing profession. A Hodgkin's Disease cancer survivor for over 45 years, she taught us perseverance and resilience facing adversity in her own health throughout her life. She worked for well over 20 years at Grove Park Home in Barrie and was kind, compassionate and nurturing at work, home and with endless friends and family who would show up for Sunday dinner or enjoy freshly made banana cake or brownies.
Myrna was a staunch and proud supporter of all her children’s involvement in many sports in Barrie, whether minor hockey or countless hours volunteering for the swim team. Her passions include shopping excursions, garage sale enthusiast with Pete, fresh flowers, old movies, theatre and travelling back home to the Prairies or to the East Coast and Hawaii.

A private service is taking place at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home on Sunday February 26. An internment will take place in the spring.
