It is with profound sadness that the Skot family shares the passing of Tori on March 4, 2026. Tori is survived by her parents Vic and Janice (nee O’Brien) and siblings Tessa, Alanna, and Bryce; her Aunt Barb and cousin Heather Empey of Sudbury; Aunt Paulette (nee O’Brien) and Uncle Cecil Burton of Sudbury; honourary grandmother Carolyn Murray of Sudbury. Predeceased by grandparents Viktor and Anna Skot of Sudbury and grandmother Terry O’Brien (nee McColgan) of Sudbury.

Tori was born in Sudbury and spent her formative years at Montessori School, St. Theresa’s elementary, and Marymount Academy. Tori played AA hockey with the Sudbury Wolves and soccer on both the Canadians and Panhellenic teams. After her family moved to Barrie, Tori attended Eastview High School and played AA hockey with the Barrie Sharks.

Tori graduated from Sir Wilfred Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree and from Dalhousie University Schulich School of Law with a Juris Doctor (JD). Tori began her career at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Toronto under the leadership of Brian Facey in the Competition, Antitrust, and Foreign Investment group, and then moved back to Barrie to join Barriston LLP under the leadership of Lisa Roszell.

Tori found joy in life through travel, remarkable food, both cooking it herself and discovering it around the world, and most of all in the time and memories she shared with family and friends at her absolute favourite place, the Skottage near Parry Sound.

Following a hard-fought battle with brain cancer that cut her time far too short, Tori passed away Wednesday morning wrapped in the love and warmth of her family. Anyone who was fortunate enough to know Tori will understand the depth of this loss. Tori loved with her entire heart and soul, always putting others first. She was fiercely loyal, and her love was unconditional. She was the beating heart of her family; she lifted each of them up and was absolutely beloved by those who must carry on and learn to live in this world without her. Tori’s resilience, sense of humour, and wit were some of her most defining characteristics. While her disease took so much from her, those traits remained strong even through her final days. Her jokes and her determination were a beacon to her family, her friends, and her care team around her every day, and most especially at the end.

Tori’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the extraordinary team on the 9th floor at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, including the nurses, nurse practitioner, occupational and physical therapists, clinical assistants, and environmental services staff. A special thank you to Tori’s physicians - especially her neurosurgeon and ‘guardian angel on earth’ Dr. Julian Spears, the talented intensivists in the TNICU, and the medical residents that richly contributed to her care.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Michael’s Hospital Division of Neurosurgery Memorial Research Fund would be appreciated or to a charity of your choice.
