Patricia Eleanor Smrcka (née Longhurst)
May 4, 1936 – January 2, 2024
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Patricia Eleanor Smrcka on January 2, 2024 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of Jerry for 61 years, loving mother to Debbie Smrcka (Gary McKnight) and Michael Smrcka (Renee Hannes). Cherished “Nanny” of Taylor and Zachary McKnight.
Patricia loved watching and talking about the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Patricia was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for 25 years and she loved quilting, bowling, cooking and baking. She also volunteered her time at hospitals in the many cities that she and Jerry lived during their 61 years together. She will always be remembered for her sense of humour and love of family.
A funeral mass will take place on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11 AM at the St John Vianney Parish, 13 Baldwin Ln., Barrie. Reception will follow inside the church hall. In keeping with Patricia’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private internment will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dickson as well as the nursing staff of Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre for the kindness and compassion they showed towards Patricia.
In lieu of flowers a memorial donation to the Hospice Simcoe would be appreciated.
