It is with immense sorrow that the family of Susan Patricia “Patti” Squires, of Barrie, Ontario—formerly of Brantford—announces her passing on October 11, 2025, at the age of 67. Patti was the beloved wife of Alan Squires for 45 years and a devoted mother (Momsy/Momma) to Callum Squires and Genaah Ivany (Adam). Being a mother was her life's greatest joy, and she treasured every moment with her children, taking immense pride in their achievements, which often were only made possible by Patti’s loving and supportive upbringing. Patti was a cherished Nannie to Mila and Vienna, a beloved second mother to her second daughter Caroline and was adored by her spirited furry "boys" Sam and Luke.

Patti is survived by her father Bob, her sister Debbie (Randy), her brothers Alan and David and her step-sister Cheryl. She was predeceased by her mother Suzanne and her beloved sister Heather, who held a very special place in her heart. Patti will be deeply missed by her lifelong, steadfast and loving friend Ann Kwist, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Her sister Debbie could always make her laugh, and their bond was a source of great joy and comfort to Patti. Patti was also incredibly proud of her niece Catrina for working hard to build a good life for herself.

Patti dedicated her professional life to helping others, consistently putting the needs of those around her first. She worked with children and adults with disabilities, offering compassion, patience, education, and encouragement to those who needed it most. Patti was also a trusted and loving babysitter to her friends’ children, forming lasting bonds and providing a nurturing and educational presence in their lives. Her warmth and empathy extended to her roles in the hotel industry, where she welcomed guests with grace and kindness, and later at a medical services company, where she supported clients and staff with diligence and care.

Outside of work, Patti was a gifted and award-winning quilter and crafter, known for her skill, intricate designs, and the joy she found in creating handmade treasures for loved ones. Her culinary talents were equally admired—she delighted in preparing meals that brought family together, especially during the holidays. Patti had a deep love for the holidays and her family, creating a magical showcase of warmth and creativity, especially at Christmas, when she transformed every corner of her home with festive charm. One of the most cherished memories of Patti was her famous Christmas fudge. Every holiday season, her kitchen was filled with the sweet aroma of this delightful treat, which she made with love and care. It became a beloved tradition that brought joy to family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever. She also had a profound love for water—whether spending time by the lake, enjoying the serenity of a quiet shoreline, or simply relaxing near the waves. Water brought her peace, joy, and a sense of renewal. She also loved to laugh, bringing joy and lightheartedness to those around her.

The last few years of Patti’s life were marked by significant health challenges, which she faced with remarkable strength, courage, and grace. Throughout these trying times, the unwavering love and dedication of her husband, Alan, were a source of immense comfort and support. Patti was the strongest person we know and despite it all she still loved to laugh and bring joy to others. Her strength, resilience, and unwavering love and devotion to family remained constant, even in the most difficult moments. Patti and our family are deeply grateful for the ongoing support and kindness shown by family and friends during her last few years.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Humane Society would be appreciated given Patti's love for animals. The family invites friends and loved ones to share their memories and reflections, helping to celebrate Patti’s life and legacy together. May Patti’s memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her, and may peace and comfort surround you during this time of remembrance and celebration of her full and meaningful life.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 11 AM until the time of service at 12 PM, with a light reception to follow.
