Unexpectedly at his home in Barrie on Friday, March 8th, 2024 at the age of 82 years. Beloved husband of Sharon for 59 years. Loving father of Kevin (Bianca), Shawn (Celeste) and Owen. Proud grandfather of Grayden, Larkin, Jase and Lauren. Dear brother of Donna, Brian (Addie) and the late Ron. Brother-in-law of Linda. Will be sadly missed by many extended family members and dear friends.

Bob craved social interaction and could always be counted on for a joke or two. With the use of his iPad, Bob loved to spend many hours keeping in touch with family and friends on Facetime.

Bob started his career as a welder but later found his passion in sales at Barrie Honda where he excelled and won many awards.

He was a multi-championship winner of men’s horseshoes in Ontario for both singles and partners. He would entice his family and friends to play him by offering to throw with his left hand.

Bob was a gifted musician and learned to play many different instruments, despite never taking lessons or reading a single note of music. He thoroughly enjoyed playing for others and facilitating sing-songs.

Family was paramount for Bob; he never missed a birthday or anniversary and could often be found flipping burgers for a gathering of family or friends at the cottage. He spent many hours over the years improving the family cottage at Six Mile Lake. He was a good friend to many, and very genuine – you always knew where you stood with Bob.

Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024 from 10 am until the time of service inside the Chapel at 11 am. Following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception gathering inside the lower lounge. A private interment will take place at a later date at the Allenwood cemetery near Elmvale. If desired, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Canada or to a charity of choice and are greatly appreciated by the family.
