It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert. He was predeceased by parents Malcolm and Laura (nee Patterson) along with his brother Paul. Robert is survived by brothers Laurie (Kelly) and David (Kim), sisters-in-law Sheila (nee Pain), Vicy (nee Moller). Uncle to Kenneth, Karen, April and Andrew. Great Uncle to Riley, Isaac, Mayzzi and Eli. Cousin to Paul (Jacqui) Simcoe, Rev Ray (Bert) Dobson.
Robert went to Guelph for Horticulture and Georgian College for Quality Control. When Robert was young, he won many horticultural awards at the Barrie Fair. He also had the opportunity to enter the Royal Winter Fair. He wasn’t afraid of work. This included being a caddie at Barrie Country club on Sunnidale Rd, bus boy at Continental Inn and Quality Control at Lufkin Rule.
Robert loved the outdoors and trips to the cottage. Spending time on Snow Valley Road at his great-grandparents Nicholson farm and the Pains’ farm in Minesing trying to help where needed. More joy was had when hunting with his Dad and brother David, working/playing in the gardens for entries in the Barrie Fair, ice fishing on Kempenfelt Bay, swimming. His greatest joys included his ’57 Ford Custom and ’68 Skidoo. Robert could often be found on the floor playing with his nieces and nephews and had the patience of “Job”. His laughter was infectious, his sense of humor was like no other, his mischievousness was comical and he became sneaky smart when required.
Robert was involved with Brain Injury in Collingwood for many years. He enjoyed the daily activities and outings, especially when it involved his counselor Bev. It brought great pleasure to him when they volunteered at the Collingwood Food Bank. Robert was a kind soul and would do anything he could to help another.

As per Robert's request, a private family celebration will take place with Internment at Minesing Union Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie.
Donations can be made to Brain Injury Services Barrie/Collingwood, Collingwood Food Bank, Red Cross Transportation and are greatly apprciated by the family.
