Passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7th, 2025 at the Woods Park Long Term Care at the age of 104. Loving husband of the late Frances Leushner (2011), dear father of Bryce and brother of Shirley Mercer. Uncle of Marilyn (Henk) Kampers, Gregory (late Jeanine) Leushner and the late Shelley.

Bob was born in Belfast and raised in Winnipeg. He graduated in 1941, B.Sc., University of Manitoba. He joined Defence Industries Ltd., at Nobel, ON. in July 1941 and worked as an explosives development supervisor. Was with D.I.L at Chalk River, ON. from 1945-1947 for start-up of atomic energy program. Went to CIL Explosives Division as supervisor in 1947 and remained with CIL at Beloeil and Montreal until 1978. Wound up career as explosives advisor for Transport of Dangerous Goods directorate in Ottawa from 1978-1985. The family summered at Harris Lake, Waubamik and moved to Barrie in 1991 to be closer to the summer cottage. Bob will rest beside his beloved Fran in Hillcrest Cemetery, Parry Sound.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025 from 2-4 pm at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie and again on the following day on Thursday, August 21st, 2025 from 10:30 am at the St. George’s Anglican Church, 9 Granville St., Barrie until the time of service at 11 am. Interment to immediately follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery, 110 William St., Parry Sound. Memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
