DORET, Rosa

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Rosa Doret of Barrie on October 16th ,2025 at the age of 93.  She was the beloved wife of Aniceto for 72 years (predeceased January 8,2025).  Loving Mother to Walter (Brenda), Franca (Brant), and Nadia (Greg),  Proud Nonna to Steven (Geri), Tara (Simon), Mike (Sarah), Vanessa (Trevor) Jenna (Denver), Trent (Emily), Jessica, Jaclyn (John) and Bis Nonna to Ryker, Mila, Hudson, Sienna, Keaton, Elodie, Beryl, Leo, River, Gordon, Joan and Bruce.

Born in Ligugnana, Italy.  Rosa was one of 6 children.  She came to Canada in 1955 with her Son, Walter, after her husband, Aniceto, came to Canada 1953 in search of a better life for his family.  They first lived in Toronto, where they raised their Son and two Daughters, Franca and Nadia until moving to Barrie in 1963.  She loved cooking, gardening and going for long walks.   She grew amazing roses and always cared for her beautiful gardens, and her pasta sauce and cooking was loved by all (mangia, mangia, mangia…)   Her family was always her priority, and she loved spending time with them.

Rosa made many trips back to Italy, but it was Canada she called home. Many family members were lucky to accompany her on some of these trips to meet their Italian relatives and enjoy their company and see Rosa’s love for a family that she missed.

Cremation has taken place, with private family arrangements entrusted to the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home 30 Worsley St. Barrie.

The family would like to take this opportunity to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Whispering Pines in Barrie and the exceptional care given by Dr. Moss and dedicated staff at RVH and the superior attention provided by Hospice Simcoe.  We also thank Colleen, Lili and Robyn of Bayshore Nursing for their support and kindness.

Mom, Nonna and Bis Nonna will always be dearly missed but never FORGOTTEN.

If desired, donations in Rosa’s memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Simcoe.
