It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Sandra de Munnik. Beloved wife of the late Hank de Munnik (2017). Proud mother of Amy. Sandra adored her son-in-law, Collin, as her own son and he will miss her SO much. Sandra is at peace knowing that her precious Daisy is being cared for by her dear sister Cheryl and brother-in-law Leonard, whom she loved dearly. Sandra will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

Sandra met Hank, the love of her life, in her early teens. They married, as soon as they could, and shared a beautiful life together, filled with love and companionship.

Graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1970, Sandra enjoyed a varied and fulfilling career in surgery, doctors’ offices, the Emergency Department and Recovery room. After moving to Barrie, she undertook further training in order to work as an RN at the Oral Surgery Group. Following retirement, Sandra volunteered alongside Hank with the Canadian Cancer Society for 10 years. As a cancer survivor, she found particular meaning in supporting others.

Kind and compassionate, Sandra was always genuinely interested in how others were doing. She loved reading, cooking, entertaining and she enjoyed a good martini.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Waterford for their caring and concern. Sandra developed wonderful friendships during her time there and especially enjoyed the fine dining evenings hosted by Chef Marcel.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Sandra’s life at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie, on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Donations to Street Cats Animal Rescue and Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully appreciated.
