It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the peaceful passing of Sarah “Joan” Wallwin on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Mill Creek Care Centre at the age of 87.
Dear sister of the late Kay Hall (Keith), Ruth Poole (Cliff), Emma Stewart (Ron), Jack Wallwin (Verdi), Ross Wallwin (Shirley) and Phyllis Handy (Jim).
Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews as well as her dear friend Aase.
Joan was born September 2, 1938 to John and Ida Wallwin of Vespra Township and was the baby of the family.
Joan held a deep and enduring love for her family farm, where she spent her childhood surrounded by simple joys and lasting traditions. Those early years shaped her appreciation for family, nature, and togetherness, values she carried with her throughout her life. The farm remained a special place in her heart, and she cherished returning there during the Christmas holidays, where laughter, warmth, and treasured memories were shared with loved ones year after year.
In her adult years, Joan found her greatest sense of peace and belonging living on Sparrow Lake where she spent the majority of her life enjoying the beauty of the water and the changing seasons. These years were marked by a deep appreciation for nature, animals and simple pleasures that brought her happiness.
Joan also had a deep love for travel and adventure, always finding joy in exploring new places and creating lasting memories along the way. She especially cherished her time spent in Texas, a destination that held a special place in her heart. Whether visiting loved ones or simply enjoying the warmth and spirit of the area, her travels brought her great happiness and added a sense of adventure to her life.
Joan was a valued employee of Canada Life for many years, though she particularly treasured her time working for Ron Stewart, Member of Parliament.
Joan lived a full and meaningful life filled with love, family and cherished memories that will be carried forward by all who knew her. Her kindness, strength, and spirit leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of those she touched. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Mill Creek Care Centre for the exceptional care, dignity, and comfort they provided Joan in her final days.
