Shirley passed away peacefully at home with her daughter Kelly and her cats by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
Shirley is predeceased by her parents Robert and Beatrice, brothers Dan and Ron and sister Pat. Loving mother of Kelly Craig. Shirley will be fondly remembered by her nephew Stephen and nieces Kate, Judy, Linda and Jean.
Shirley was from Sussex England and moved to Canada in 1962, Living in Victoria BC, Calgary and Wetaskwin Alberta while finally settling in Barrie ON in 1980.
Shirley was the first woman gas pump attendant on Vancouver Island, followed by a career in banking and finance, while continuing to work until age 70 in the hospitality and restaurant industry.
Shirley will be deeply missed but fondly remember for her remarkable ability to make friends easily and her unwavering commitment to speaking her mind, traits that led her being aptly nicknamed The British Bulldog.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Friday, May 1st, 2026 from 12 pm until the time of service in the chapel at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity or a pet charity of your choice.
