It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Stephen John O’Reilly on August 15, 2025, at St. Michael’s Hospital, at the age of 68. Predeceased by his parents, Lee (2003) and Jean (2010). He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Wendy (née O’Connor), his son Shawn (Breanna), daughter Shannon (Derek), brother David (Maureen), cherished grandchildren Madison, Dylan, Connor, and Peyton, his niece and nephew, Jeannie and Shane, and many extended relatives.
Stephen will be remembered for his love of music, sports, and, above all, his family. A devoted Leafs fan, he stayed active throughout his life, and dedicated countless hours coaching minor hockey and soccer. His home was always alive with the sounds of the blues, and he was happiest outdoors: golfing, camping or working on projects around the house, which he was so proud of. He especially loved traveling, going to concerts, and sharing adventures with his wife and partner in crime, Wendy. His steady presence, humour, and devotion will be deeply missed and forever treasured.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, August 23, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and on Sunday, August 24, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley Street, Barrie. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 24, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or St. Michael’s Hospital. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.steckleygooderham.com.
