Passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie on Wednesday, October 21st, 2026 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Ernest “Ernie” Mills (2021). Loving mother of Sandra (Lorin), Scott (Maribel) and Warren (Beverly). Cherished grandmother of Katie (Cole), Scarlett (Dylan), Justin, Jaira (Wes), Connor, Hannah and Chloe. Proud great grandmother of Josephine. Predeceased by her parents Bruce and Rhea Turnbull. Dear sister of Wayne (Cheryl) Turnbull and sister-in-law of Graham and Nancy Mills. Predeceased by her sister Janis (late Brian) Bowden and sister-in-law Diana Mills.
Carole enjoyed lawn bowling, stained glass, golf, playing shuffleboard and dancing with friends. A love for travel led to many treasured memories made alongside her beloved husband Ernie and their family.
Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Sunday, October 25th, 2026 from 6-8 pm and again on the following day on Monday, October 26th, 2026 from 12 pm until the time of Service in the Chapel at 1 pm. Interment will take place immediately following the Service at the Barrie Union Cemetery, 338 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. Following the interment, guests are invited to join the family for a reception luncheon at the Barrie Country Club, 635 St. Vincent St N., Barrie for a reception.
Having demonstrated remarkable strength, courage and resilience throughout her 33-year battle with cancer, she remained a true inspiration to those around her. In honour of her incredible journey, and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the RVH Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated by the family.
